Other Details to Note

PET FEE: $75/night/pet (minimum $225 per stay) SOME NOTES ABOUT THE MOUNTAINS: - This is the mountains and cell service may be spotty - There may be some twisty roads - This is in the forests and mountains and you will likely see bugs, mice, or furry critters (including bears!). We do maintain the property with regular pest control, but due to the surroundings, or if doors are left open, or food is left outside the house, this can attract critters. - There are no refunds for storms or power outages. If there is a power outage, there will be no water and potentially no heat. Storms can also make roads impassable, so if a storm is in the forecast during your reservation, come prepared with water and non-perishable food, etc. - PLEASE NOTE: Fall/Winter is ladybug season in the Smokies and these little buggers are attracted to heat, meaning your cabin and every other one out there that is warm! They will swarm to the cabin and you'll probably see them alive/dead on windowsills, in vents, etc. Rest assured that your cabin has regular pest control and is professionally cleaned, including bug removal, before and after your stay. However, these bugs come back right away and unfortunately there is nothing that can be done about them until the season passes. - The cabin has well water and when first turning the hot water on it can have the sulfur smell. This will go away after a minute or two and is typically just when you first turn it on the first day. After you start using the water regularly it goes away. Also, the water can sometimes come out a little brown, typically when flushing the toilets, etc. This is normal. The water is drinkable, but we still recommend using the filtered water from the fridge. - Cell phone service is very spotty in the area, so download the maps offline before arriving. The community pool and fishing pond are run by a 3rd party and we have no control over closures, etc. that may occur. No refunds will be issued for closures of these amenities. Fireplace is gas powered and is typically shut off between March/April and October/November. Note: This is the mountains and WiFi and cell phone service can sometimes be spotty and lose service. If the internet does go out, try resetting the router first. We highly recommend you download maps of the area offline prior to arriving.

- Easy to find by GPS (download the maps offline just in case you lose service) - There are several twisty, turny mountain roads on the way to the cabin so be prepared. Nothing super crazy, but you'll get your exercise turning the steering wheel! Best if you can arrive by daylight, but easy to find if not. - Roads are all paved, except the driveway which is flat and can hold tons of cars.

We had a wonderful adventure celebrating our daughter’s 18th birthday with a quiet mountain retreat staying at Cale’s Ridgeback Retreat! The house was clean, inviting, and spacious for our crew of 11. The space was cute and well designed offering many relaxing features, my favorite was the porch swing with my morning coffee. It was close enough to Pigeon Forge for attractions but far enough out we felt like we were immersed in nature. Upon arriving the first night, we were greeted by a mama black bear and her two cubs wondering around the house. The next morning we woke to two of our car’s doors open and claw marks inside one car console (some of our peeps forgot to lock their doors after retrieving something and a kiddo had hid a bag of candy in the console of one car). Cale was very responsive in communicating and even checked the front door camera for the footage even though his family was traveling as well. Luckily, nothing was taken or harmed too much, just lessons learned. 😁
